Frederick Road in Salford is set to close for six months from the Saturday 12 July to enable essential construction across the carriageway
The scheme is part of Salford Rise, a key element of the Crescent Salford masterplan.
A new 220m elevated walkway will provide a traffic-free route over the road for pedestrians and cyclists and improve community connectivity.
The road will be closed between Lissadel Street and Leslie Hough Way to both vehicles and pedestrians, whilst Eric Wright Civil Engineering, lead contractor for Salford Rise, builds the elevated walkway over Frederick Road.
Vehicle diversion will be via Lissadel Street, Cromwell Road, Gerald Road and Seaford Road, and pedestrians will be able to walk up Broughton Road East to get around the closure. Access to the North of England Robotics Innovation Centre (NERIC) will be maintained.
Salford Rise will link Crescent Innovation to the University of Salford, the wider Crescent Salford masterplan and communities to the north. It will improve accessibility and encourage active travel through new walking and cycling routes.
Future works will see Salford Rise surrounded by high-quality public realm, 100 new trees and new planting, as well as public space for pop-up events.
