SALFORD students were offered an enriching tour of a live construction site, thanks to a collaboration between Lovell Partnerships and City Skills – part of the Salford City College Group.

The event provided electrical students with an up-close look at the construction processes and the opportunity to gain invaluable insights. Held at Lovell Partnerships’ Pendleton site, Spinners Quarter, students were given a unique hands-on experience helping to further enhance their understanding of real-world applications.

One of the primary objectives of the tour was to foster an environment where the students could engage with the onsite team and gain valuable knowledge. Lovell staff members were present throughout the tour, enthusiastically sharing their expertise and answering the students’ questions about the construction processes. This direct interaction created an exceptional learning environment, empowering the students with insights into the practical aspects of their chosen field.

Chris Griffiths, work experience and employability coordinator at City Skills, said: “The site tour has been an incredibly valuable experience for our electrical students, getting them out of the classroom and into a live construction site. We are grateful to Lovell Partnerships for offering such enriching experiences to our students.”

Lovell Partnerships has a longstanding commitment to supporting educational initiatives and nurturing the next generation of industry professionals. The company recognises the importance of bridging the gap between academia and industry, ensuring that students have exposure to real-world scenarios. The site tour with Pendleton College exemplifies Lovell’s dedication to fostering talent and promoting learning beyond the classroom.

Laura Taylor, community engagement manager, said: “Engaging with students and offering them direct experiences is crucial for their professional development, so we were more than happy to collaborate with Pendleton College for this site tour. We hope that this tour has inspired the students and provided them with valuable insights that will shape their future careers in the construction industry.”

The Spinners Quarter development – delivered by Lovell Together, a joint venture between Lovell Partnerships and Together Housing Group – is part of the Pendleton Project, one of Greater Manchester’s biggest regeneration schemes. Named in honour of the area’s rich textile milling heritage, the site revives an under-utilised area of Salford with a new community of 127 energy efficient and affordable homes.
