The rock ’n’ roll swagger of The Rolling Stones is brought to life at The Lowry this October in Rooster, Christopher Bruce’s electrifying celebration of the swinging sixties.

Running from 1 – 3 October in The Lowry’s Lyric Theatre, the show by Rambert features some of the Stones’ most famous tunes, including Not Fade Away, Paint It Black, As Tears Go By, Sympathy for the Devil and Little Red Rooster.

Returning to the stage for the first time in 13 years, Rooster tops the bill in a mixed programme by Britain’s national dance company that also features works by Richard Alston, Merce Cunningham and Rambert artistic director, Mark Baldwin.

Baldwin’s work is a new creation entitled The Strange Charm of Mother Nature and was inspired by his visit to the Large Hadron Collider at CERN and the recent discovery of the Higgs boson ‘God Particle’.

It continues his fascination with scientific discovery, having recently produced pieces relating to Einstein’s physics and by Darwin’s theories of evolution.

Rambert’s mixed programme forms part of The Lowry’s biggest ever season of dance performances, which also includes Matthew Bourne’s Edward Scissorhands, Akram Khan’s DESH and Grupo Corpo.
