The chairman of Rochdale Football club Simon Gauge has said that the club needs new investment by the end of March otherwise it could face the prospect of liquidation.

Gauge who has called an emergency EGM says the club requires a cash injection of £2 million

The club dropped out of the Football League for the first time in 102 years last season

Let me leave you in no doubt, this resolution needs to be passed at the EGM for us to have any chance of securing the required investment that will ensure the long-term future of our club,” Gauge said in a statement

The club became fan owned in August 2022 and one of the proposals at the EGM on the 7th March would be to create nine million new shares, which would change the conditions for investment in the club.
