The Reach’s brand new Manchester Inspired Bottomless Lunch  began at the weekend and About Manchester went along to try it out

For those who have yet to come across the Reach at Piccadilly, it is set within Tribute Portfolio Hotel on Ducie Street, one of the latest in the City Centre’s increasing stables of Luxury Hotels featuring 215 stylish guest rooms, and eight suites

But to the Bottomless Brunch. The food menu is intended to spotlight local ingredients and suppliers, with dishes celebrating Manchester culinary traditions

The Manchester Muffin which my other half was raving about on tasting comes complete with sausage, black pudding, fried egg, tomato chutney, cheddar, and hash brown (she was incidentally raving about the chutney) sits in pride of place on the menu.

Other selections to try include the Manchester Scotch Egg,the Oven-Baked Shakshuka which the table next to us seemed to be drooling over given the amount of pictures they were taking of it, Sweet Potato and Mushroom Hash and what I tried which was the Roasted Tomatoes and melted Feta on Sourdough which I have to say was gorgeous and substantial

It appears that a DJ spinning the tunes at these bottomless comes now as the norm and while I have written many times about music in restaurants, once the room filled his mixing did indeed drift into the background helped by us requesting a table around the corner so as not to offend our aging ears

The Bottomless Brunch began in New York as a way to draw in weekend diners with unlimited drinks and classic brunch fare but has increasingly become a feature in the U.K. dining scene where increasingly creative twists on cuisines have taken centre stage.

The question of course is whether it is worthwhile? Here for £35 you get ninety minutes in which you get the one meal and of course the theoretical endless supply of drinks

Here there were four cocktails to choose from Aperol Spritz and Mimosa, a Long Margarita and Blush Breeze which fuses Manchester Raspberry Infusion and Fever-Tree Lemon Tonic.

Other options on the menu included prosecco, wine, beer, and a number of soft drinks

While the plates on first look appear small as you delve into them, that is hardly the case with a substantial meal unfolding but I felt the soft drinks could have been a little more varied

Overall it was an enjoyable experience, the food especially faultless and by the time we have finished our ninety minutes the restaurant had become a lively social experience,

The next bottomless brunches will be held on:
Saturday 25th October
Saturday 29th November
while a special festive edition will be happening on Saturday 20th December.
