Angela Rayner has reacted to reports of fighting between football supporters of Wrexham and Oldham yesterday afternoon in the streets of Failsworth
Rayner tweeted “Disgusted to see the brawl in the streets this afternoon in Failsworth before todays match. This was the middle of the afternoon in a residential area where kids play. Thank you to @gmpolice who were on scene to protect the public.”
Video on social media yesterday showed fighting in the streets of Failsworth with flying kicks and missiles thrown in what was believed to have been a pre arranged meeting between fans of the club ahead of their Conference game at Boundary Park
One witness described how “Cops battled to control the thugs many with their hoods up, punching, kicking.”
Video and pictures on social media showed fighting near to the Tesco Extra store on Ashton Road West, a residential street in Failsworth, and fighting breaking out on nearby Lord Lane.
