Police are at the site of Clifton Country Park this morning after reports that a boy was seen swimming at the site before being swept under water last night in the River Irwell
Police have this morning issued the following statement
At around 4.49pm on Saturday 27 June 2026, we were called to reports of boy getting into difficulty in the River Irwell at Clifton Country Park. Emergency services and specialist search teams remain at the scene. The incident is ongoing.
It is understood that a teenage boy went into the water together with other youngsters and a teenage girl was pulled out of the water –
