An Individual described as a white male in his 20s, last seen wearing a grey jacket and black trousers was reported as being seen in the River Irwell in Salford overnight
The male was seen entering the water welfare on the Irwell Street bridge
Detective Inspector Paul Davies, from Salford’s Criminal Investigation Department, said: “We understand how distressing this situation is, and I want to reassure the wider community that officers are working closely with specialist units to find the individual and notify those involved.
“We are dedicating a number of resources to find him, and we are continuing our enquiries to establish the circumstances of this incident.
“Scenes are currently in place around the bridge and river and we urge anyone with information to come forward and report”
