Greater Manchester Police have referred themselves to the Independent Police Complaints Authority after an incident in Bolton last night which saw five people taken to hospital after two cars collided after a police chase

Police spotted a vehicle acting suspiciously in Bury Road area of the town.

The vehicle, a Skoda, entered the opposing side of the carriageway on the A666, after entering the slip road from St Peter’s Way, before colliding with another vehicle, a BMW.

Five people were treated at the scene and a number were taken to hospital with serious injuries. Three of those injured are from the Skoda, with two from the BMW.

As the investigation progresses, detectives from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for information.
