Police have recovered a firearm and several rounds of ammunition following a land area search close to the Brinnington area.
The search took place earlier yesterday morning in an area of Reddish Vale
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Kennedy, from GMP’s Operation Vulcan team, said: “This is a significant recovery and means there is one less deadly weapon on the streets, and which could have easily been used to cause significant harm or worse.
“These sort of weapons have no place on the streets of Stockport, or indeed anywhere in Greater Manchester, and I am glad it was recovered as part of Vulcan’s proactive work.
“Brinnington’s residents deserve to live in their community without fear of those who don’t care for others around them, and as we near two months in the area, we continue to work robustly as part of a dedicated partnership approach.
“If anyone has any information that they’d like to share with us in relation to criminality in the Brinnington area, please do get in touch with us – either directly or anonymously.”
