Yesterday police were called to reports of a collision between a motorbike and a car on Hall Street in Offerton, at the junction of Turncroft Lane.

Emergency services attended and a man – aged 59 – was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Despite the best efforts of medical staff he sadly died a short time later.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.

Police Constable Lee Gandy, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said, “This is a tragic incident in which a man has sadly lost his life and our thoughts remain with his family at this difficult time.

This collision happened in broad daylight, therefore we are confident that there are a number people who will have witnessed this collision and may have dashcam footage that could assist with our investigation.
