A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of multiple burglary offences across south Manchester, Stockport and Trafford over the past three weeks.
Police have linked 16 potential offences to the suspect which include burglary, attempted burglary, theft from motor vehicle, theft of motor vehicle, attempted theft of motor vehicle, and vehicle interference.
He was also wanted by police for having absconded from prison.
He remains in custody for questioning.
PC Hannah Woodall from our south Manchester Neighbourhood Crime Team said: “Since launching this investigation alongside our colleagues in the Stockport Neighbourhood Crime Team, we have taken a proactive approach to identify and track down the offender and have now secured his arrest and brought him into custody.
“Burglaries and thefts can feel like very personal crimes, and we are absolutely dedicated to investigating them thoroughly and dealing with offenders robustly.
“In the past year, we have managed to reduce burglary offending across the whole of Greater Manchester by 21 per cent, something we are incredibly proud of, and a stat that we want to continue to bring down.”
