Greater Manchester Police have announced that they have been passed the tape of Didsbury ImamMustafa Graf delivering a sermon where Manchester Arena bomber Salman Abedi and his family prayed, calling for jihad.

The tape, uncovered by the BBC, encouraged followers to ‘take action’ and was delivered just six months before Abedi detonated his suicide bomb which killed twenty two people.

A GMP spokesperson said: “We have been handed the material from the BBC following their broadcast and will now review it to establish if any criminal offences have been committed.”

On the tape, Graf is heard to say, “Brothers and sisters, it is time to act, not only to talk… Lots of borthers stay behind unfortunately, they love Islam and Muslims but they do nothing about the support of their brothers and sisters“

it was not certain whether Abedi was in the audience where the sermon was given but at least five men who attended the mosque either went to fight in Syria or were jailed for supporting ISIS, according to the BBC report.

Graf denies calling for “armed jihad” and says that he never preached radical Islam.

Trustees at the Didsbury Mosque told the BBC that Graf’s sermon was highlighting the Syrians’ plight, and his use of the words Jihad and Mujahedeen have been misinterpreted as they don’t tolerate extremist preaching.
