A new plan for Urmston town centre which will future proof the town as a successful, sustainable and dynamic ‘place’ over the next 15 years has been approved by Trafford Council
Plans include a number of public realm improvements on streets including Higher Road, Flixton Road/Croft Banks Road, Gloucester Road and on land next to the library.
Re-development opportunities have been identified on the site of the former bank on Croft Banks Road, Urmston Market, the Former Ridings Store, at Victoria Parade and at the former TMBC depot building.
Cllr Liz Patel, Trafford Council’s executive member for Economy and Regeneration, said:
“The Urmston Plan is great news for local residents and businesses as it has created a positive vision for the town that works for the community and businesses.
“Trafford Council is totally committed to improving all of our four town centres – Stretford, Altrincham, Sale and, of course, Urmston. The new Urmston Plan has been drawn up with the help of partners and residents. It will set a framework for the town centre to meet the needs of residents and businesses now and in the future and will form the basis to be able to apply for funding when it becomes available.”
