A 26-year-old man has been killed after a car hit a tree in Partington last night.

The man was a passenger in the back of the black Audi S3 that collided with a tree on Warburton Lane, just after 11.00pm

A 28-year-old man who was driving the car was taken to hospital with serious injuries and is in a stable condition.

A man who was sat in the front passenger seat escaped with minor injuries.

Enquires are ongoing and no arrests have been made.

Police Constable Mark Ratcliffe of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “I would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family of the young man who has passed away following the collision in Warburton last night.

“Our officers are working hard to determine the events leading up to this tragic incident and are appealing for anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage of the collision to contact police as soon as possible.

“If you were on or around Warburton or Moss Lane at the time of the incident and may have heard or seen anything relating to the collision please contact police.”
