The Belle Vue ‘Rentruck’ Aces rounded off their league campaign with a comprehensive 54-39 win over King’s Lynn on a night where the Poole Pirates confirmed their place in the play offs.

There was plenty riding on the Friday fixture for the Trucks R Us Stars in Manchester as they desperately try to avoid being pushed into relegation territory by the in-form Leicester Lions.

And their ‘star’ man on the night, Michael Palm Toft, led the charge with 16+1 to his name though despite his best efforts, it was not enough to rally his team mates who struggled all night.

The hosts meanwhile continued to dominate their home turf as they wait to learn the identity of their semi-final opponent, with skipper Craig Cook inspiring his depleted side to band together.

The two guests, Richie Worrall and Jan Graversen, both put in their shift with a combined haul of 11 while reserve Jack Smith maintained his rich vein of form; for which his score does no justice.

Cook raise the roof with a paid 18-point maximum while Rohan Tungate contributed 15 and Steve Worrall, back in the No.2 spot, finished his night with a whopping 10+2 to his name.

The skipper said: “It was an awesome night for the boys. We know we’ve already made the play offs but their attitude towards this meeting was spot on; there was a job to do and they did it.

“Some people think that because King’s Lynn have been struggling lately that they were an easy opponent for us. I don’t agree with that. They pushed us and certainly made us work hard.

“It’s a real confidence-boosted to be performing lie this with play offs on the horizon. All the boys have been testing things and making changes to get the best out of the bikes and of ourselves.

“We’ve got a bit of a wait now to find out who we’ll be against in the semi-finals but to be honest, it’s all relative to us. We’re in great form and are quite capable of beating any team put to us.

“Especially when we’re a full team again, with Max [Fricke], Dan [Bewley] and Kenneth [Bjerre] back with us, we’ll be very strong and whoever gets us I think will be in for a shock.”

The play off semi-finals are just around the corner for the Rentruck Aces while the Cool Running Colts pick up their Knock Out cup campaign against Cradley next week on September 8.
