Oldham Athletic have announced the signing of defender Andy Taylor on a one-year deal.

Taylor has featured as a trialist in pre-season matches against Ashton United and FC United of Manchester.

The 32-year-old started his career at Blackburn Rovers where he came through the youth ranks before loan spells with Queens Park Rangers, Blackpool, Crewe Alexandra, Huddersfield Town and Tranmere Rovers.

In 2007, Taylor signed permanently for Tranmere where in total he made 69 appearances before moving for an undisclosed fee to Sheffield United.

During his time at the Yorkshire club the left-footer played 39 times in the Championship as well as featuring in the League One play-off final in 2012.

He then joined Walsall where he made 140 appearances and played in the 2015 Johnston’s Paint Trophy final at Wembley Stadium.

Most recently the defender has been at Blackpool since 2016, making 38 appearances and helping the Seasiders to a play-off place in 2017.

On an international level he has represented England at under 16s, 17s, 18s, 19s and 20s level.

Taylor will wear the number three shirt during his time with Oldham Athletic
