I have to admit that I have never been on a cruise. My main worry has always been to be trapped on the ship, surrounded by the same people and herded off everyday for a whistle top tour of the latest landing

After visiting the Seven Seas Grandeur ,docked in Liverpool last week, as part of its  maiden Northern European season, calling into the UK for the first time this summer, I now have to say why would actually want to get off when you have all the facilities of a luxury all an inclusive hotel and a six million dollar collection of art scattered around the liner

Where to start? Well let’s start with the art for as you enter the vessel you are confronted with  the first Fabergé egg to permanently reside at sea, The pièce de résistance of a 1,600-piece art collection which resides on a pedestal in the atrium.

Search the rest of the ship to find multiple works by Picasso; a custom-made bronze and hand-cast glass Bonsai Cherry Tree sculpture which will welcome guests into the Asian-fusion restaurant Pacific Rim; and “The Enchanted Tree”, a 40-foot-tall, hand-woven tapestry by world-renowned Brazilian artist Walter Goldfarb.

But now for some of the figures, this ship carries 55,000 tonnes, a maximum of 746 passenger and a crew of 548, so that it not too far away from one per person and with the size of the ship, I am sure that if you wanted to you could relax for ten days in splendid isolation

The liner was built in Ancona Italy and was designed by the award-winning Studio DADO.

Her maiden seasons saw her discovering the Caribbean, two transits of the Panama Canal as well as an itinerary sailing the U.S. Eastern Seaboard in a close-to-sold-out inaugural season before she sailed back across the Atlantic from New York to Barcelona in March to explore the Mediterranean for summer 2024.

Seven Seas Grandeur witnesses the colors of Fall in Canada & New England in September and October, then finally culminates a luxurious year of travel by exploring more of the
Caribbean to close out 2024.

Listing all of the features would take too long but in summary there are 373
spacious suites across 15 suite categories. We were given a glimpse into the 11,000 pound luxury suite situated at the front of the ship, basically a huge private apartment offering unobstructed 270-degree views from the 1,227 square-foot wraparound veranda.Remarkable we were able to see it because the guest had cancelled

But I would imagine that the Regent Suite would be out of reach of our readers (I think), the majority of the 373 suites are within a price range. There are 140 Concierge Suites,88 superior and 49 Deluxe

Concierge Suites: Guests in one of Seven Seas Grandeur’s up to 464 square foot Concierge Suites enjoy ever-changing ocean views with the custom-crafted Elite SlumberTM bed facing the large private balcony. They also benefit from a complimentary pre-cruise hotel package on all voyages.

Offering up to 464 square feet of elevated luxury, Seven Seas Grandeur’s Superior Suites are complete with spacious walk-in closet and a marble appointed bath.
Deluxe Veranda and Veranda Suites boast up to 361 square feet of luxury, including 108 square feet of balcony, these entry-level suites are among the most spacious in their class. Aesthetic standards have been revitalized with soft pink hues and muted tones.

Now to the food side where The cruise line’s expert culinary teams, led by
Bernhard Klotz, Regent’s Vice President Food & Beverage, have created over 130 new dishes across seven resturants

There are 13 new dinner dishes in Compass Rose, Regent’s signature restaurant,Prime 7, Regent’s elegant steakhouse, offers a new decadent lunch menu, as well as an elaborate
sharing plate of succulent grilled meats for two at dinner.

While Three of the seven new dishes on French restaurant Chartreuse’s menu have been inspired by the 3-Michelin Star L’Auberge du Vieux Puits following an in-depth culinary tour of Narbonne

Guests can enjoy four captivating entertainment shows aboard Seven Seas GrandeurTM – A Heritage of Perfection. The new, extraordinary productions celebrate the legacy of Broadway and its influence on at-sea entertainment, showcasing the talents of world-class performers, breath-taking choreography, and providing guests with unforgettable moments.

There are cocktail bars, a wonderful library and on deck plenty of activities to attempt to shed some of the pounds that you will have undoubtedly put on during the voyage

During a ten day voyage the ship will have taken on 1,200 lbs of lobster, 1,000 lbs of filet mignon, 500 lbs of smoked salmon,500 lbs of chocolate,20 lbs of caviar, 1,500 bottles of champagne,5,000 bottles of wine, 65 white varieties of wine, 130 red, five rose, six dessert and 18 varieties of champagne and sparkling wine. The most expensive being a $2,500 Promontory Napa Valley wine

It also is a sustainable ship with onboard food digestors and is equipped to connect to onshore power grids, further reducing our emissions while in port
