Manchester’s new social destination, New Century, has been chosen as the venue for the next round of the city’s most energetic art event: Art Battle MCR.  The show will take place on Friday 3rd February from 7-11PM in New Century’s beautifully restored 1960s dancehall situated on the first floor of this iconic, Grade II listed building. The event is proudly sponsored by NOMA.

The upcoming Art Battle MCR, “Battle Royale II” will be the biggest battle to date, with ten previous winners from Manchester competing to be crowned the ‘Champion of Champions’. It’s sure to be the most epic Art Battle yet, especially as the ten fearless artists participating will create their masterpieces on the same stage where legends such as Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, and Tina Turner once stood.

The crowd will watch and vote for a group of the North West’s most talented painters, illustrators, tattooists, and street artists, as they go head-to-head in this art extravaganza. There are 30 minutes on the clock for each round and the audience will decide the winner until there’s only one artist remaining – the ultimate Champion of Champions.

Hosted by broadcaster/DJ Hattie Pearson, Battle Royale II will be keeping in tradition with other Art Battles and will mix up the live art with guest DJs, street food, a licensed bar, and, as always, a few special surprises.

Art Battle MCR is just part of an exciting and eclectic programme of events at New Century for this year. Upcoming events include the likes of deep house originator Kerri Chandler on 10th February, rising stars and R&B girl group FLO performing on 3rd April, and legendary Mancunian post-punk act A Certain Ratio playing on 22nd April.

As well as offering events and activities, the New Century kitchens and bar will be open on the ground floor offeringindependent street food, craft beers, wines and cocktails around for pre and post-show refreshments. The New Century kitchen traders include bao bun specialists BaoBros23, Vietnamese and Thai inspired Banh Vi, pizza pioneers Ply, and luxury steak and burger shop Tallow.

New Century is located between Victoria Station and Shudehill, a stone’s throw from Printworks, tucked away at the heart of the NOMA neighbourhood.

Tickets for “Battle Royale II” at New Century are £17.50 and can be purchased via Skiddle. Guests should book their tickets ASAP to avoid disappointment, as Art Battle Manchester always sells out.
