A new much-needed affordable housing development is starting to take shape in the heart of Salford.
Captured by a nearby timelapse camera, the latest imagery shows a new entrant to the Salford skyline, with the concrete lift shaft completed and a significant proportion of the steelwork of the building now in place.
The new 11-storey development, by Salford-based housing association Salix Homes, will sit alongside two other schemes, Canon Green Court and Westminster House, to create a new campus style community in the historic Trinity area of the city. Both of these buildings are also being extensively refurbished for existing residents as part of the development.
Work on the new building began in January of this year through appointed contractors Willmott Dixon Partnership.
When complete, the multi-million-pound development will offer 108 affordable one and two-bedroom homes available through the Rent-to-Buy scheme.

The project also sees the modernisation of iconic tower Canon Green Court, which includes new kitchens, bathrooms, heating systems, sprinkler systems and exterior re-facing and insulation. Neighbouring apartment housing, Westminster House, will also undergo an external facelift as part of the multi-million-pound development which has been partially funded thanks to a £3.8 million grant from Homes England.
The project is set expected to be completed in spring 2021.
