The National Football Museum is bringing together a fun-filled series of activities across the festive period to celebrate Christmas and ring in the New Year, inspired by the release of its new book.
The Story of Football in 100 Objects chronicles the history of the beautiful game through the objects in the museum’s Football Heritage Collection: the largest football collection in the world.
Come and see large-scale versions of some of the book’s key objects, from shirts and boots to placards and inflatables.
Alongside this, the museum will be running a wide range of activities to entertain the whole family, including:
• Trail: 12 Objects of Christmas
In a nod to the ‘12 Days of Christmas’, the museum has chosen 12 iconic objects that helped shape the story of football and are bringing them to life on the galleries, through craft activities, storytelling, and trails. Pick up a festive trail and see how many you can spot.
• Teamwork: The Rainbow Armband
Contribute to a communal piece and weave the colours of inclusion into the museum’s rainbow armband, based on one worn by Harry Kane at Euro 2020.
• Make Your Own Pennant
Design your own version of the pre-match memento – take it home and hang it up as part of your festive decorations!
Only on Saturday 20 December, Sunday 28 December, Tuesday 30 December, Wednesday 31 December, Sunday 4 June: 11.30am – 2.30pm.
Tim Desmond, CEO at the National Football Museum, said “We know families are always looking for fun and affordable ways to spend time together over the festive period, especially between Christmas and New year. Throughout this holiday season we have a jam-packed programme of book-themed activities celebrating The Story of Football in 100 Objects, with plenty to keep the kids entertained. We can’t wait to welcome you.”
