This January NAM launches The Winter of Listening which will entail a series of events, introducing the new Resident DJs and launch of NAM’s mix series, with the overarching intention to bring people together for the love of music.
The winter solstice has passed and as we enjoy the days gradually getting longer and lighter, NAM is encouraging us to come together, unwind and listen. And there’s no better place to do so than NAM’s basement, with their Klipschorn 80s heritage speakers, the listening experience is like no other in the city.
NAM’s basement sessions will continue Thursday through to Saturdays, with a diverse line-up of the best DJs from Manchester and beyond taking over the decks. Kicking off the month with Aletha, who will bring you blissed-out ambient and jazz, in its many forms, on Friday 14th January. Followed by Ruf Dug on Saturday 15th, known for melding balearica, street soul, 16-bit and everything in between.
The likes of Tim Giles, Zeyla, Contrast, Neil Diablo, Ty Abiodun, Tom Clarke will also be hosting a basement session across the winter months. The new year marks the incredible brand-new NAM Residents team, which spans across all ages and genres. Introducing: Abigail Ward, Acidhousedeathsquad, Aletha, Andrea Trout, Be With Records, Contours, Danuka + Yadava, FREAKout Collective, Levi Love, Sno and Kickin’ Pigeon.
The 17th January will see the launch of NAM’s Monday Mix series. The series will include archive Basement Sessions sets plus never-been-heard-before exclusive mixes curated by the legendary Levi Love. The beauty of the archive recordings is the calibre of sound quality captured from the audiophile system, for you to enjoy in the comfort of your own home. Levi’s contribution will include mixes from the likes of Manchester veterans, Mr Scruff, Krysko, James Holroyd and more to be revealed.
At its core the Winter of Listening invites you to slow down and immerse yourself in music and create new memories with loved ones. Mixes will be released every Monday from NAM’s Mixcloud and keep up to date with the music programme here.
