On June 9th, Manchester’s audiophile destination NAM will launch Lotus by NAM – a night dedicated to womxn DJs from Manchester and beyond.

The launch will be celebrated in collaboration with size?, presenting a host of superb selectors, a panel discussion and nail art from 6pm until 11pm with free entry for all.

Lotus by NAM will take place every Thursday in the basement, head down each week to kick back, relax, and soak up the sounds of the best womxn DJs from Manchester and beyond.

The launch evening will kick the series off with a bang, presenting a panel of Womxn in Music with some of the city’s musical heroes. To be followed by an epic line-up of selectors taking over NAM’s superior audiophile sound system.

Complimentary drinks from South Manchester rum maestros Miss Jackson’s will be served on a first come first served basis, and nail extraordinaire Nail Huns will be set up ready to add some finesse to your nails with a signature lotus flower.

The launch event in collaboration with size? will kick off at 6pm. At 6:30pm a Womxn in Music panel will take place, hosted by Baz AKA Plug One.

Quizzing the one and only Pops Roberts, a DJ, producer and vocalist who fronts Mancunian neo-soul band, Lovescene – who were recently highlighted by The Guardian as one of the stars of the UK soul renaissance.

Alongside, the city’s breakout alternative R&B singer and songwriter, Akemi Fox, adored for
her distinctively soothing vocals. And DJ Andrea Trout, one of NAM’s revered residents and
co-founder of the 16 strong group of sister DJs and performers, Eves’ Drop Collective – whose mission is to break down preconceptions and barriers to music in today’s society, by
championing female DJs from diverse backgrounds.

Following suit, from 7pm will be a stellar line up of talented DJ’s who will transform the evening into a party in NAM’s basement.

First up will be SCAPA, a producer and DJ known for playing eclectic blends across a multitude of genres from Amapiano to Miami Bass, who will be followed by P-Ro Jones, taking things on into the groove with her extensive knowledge of soul.

After this will be Egg On Toast, part of the Not Bad For A Girl collective of female and non-
binary DJ’s from Manchester, who often plays delightful energetic percussion and euphoric tracks with rolling bass. And finally, closing the evening off is Jess Rose who will showcase
her breadth of dancefloor fillers by doing what she does best, bringing people together through the power of music.

Under the umbrella of Lotus, NAM is set to host a series of events to bring people together to experience the remarkable things womxn are doing in Manchester. Providing opportunities to learn, create, and dance. So, keep an eye out for more Lotus by NAM events to be announced in the upcoming months.

Across the next few months, get down to the basement to enjoy sets from the incredible Aletha – presenting a slice of jazz, broken beat rhythms and intergalactic synth pads.

Curl FM will be providing her repertoire of records for the laid back lovers with plenty of swings and grooves from house to disco. Lil Minx, one of the founding members of the Eves’ Drop Collective, will be bringing her inimitable style and selections spans across soulful sounds from broken beat to neo-soul.

And Lupini will be returning to grace NAM’s basement with an extraordinary evening reaching the depths of new wave, synth-pop, post-punk and more, from one of Liverpool’s finest selectors.
