A man has been sentenced to 44 months in prison at Manchester Crown Court after admitting to a series of commercial burglaries across Manchester city centre.

Iain Dickinson aged 41, of Maine Road, Moss Side, was arrested in June 2025 following forensic evidence recovered from a burglary at a premises on Quay Street. The incident, which occurred on 1 June 2025, was part of a wider spike in commercial burglaries identified by officers across the city throughout May and June 2025.

Following his arrest, Dickinson was interviewed and admitted to a significant number of additional offences. Further investigative work led to more admissions, with Dickinson ultimately charged with seven counts of burglary and one count of criminal damage. A further 21 burglary offences were taken into consideration, bringing the total number of offences detected to 29. Dickinson is responsible for over £18,000 worth of stolen goods and damages.

The offender was remanded post-charge and has since been recalled to prison. As well as the 44 months imprisonment, the man has been handed an eight-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO), effective from 6 August 2025, which puts restrictions on his movements and will be supervised.

Detective Inspector Natalie McDonald of the neighbourhood crime team, City of Manchester, said: “This result is a testament to the dedication and professionalism of our officers and staff across multiple teams.
