Manchester City Council has recently changed the speed limit on Kingsway to 30mph and now another section in Cheadle is having the limit reduced
A new speed limit will be introduced next month on the A34 close to Kingsway School in Cheadle to improve safety for road users including motorists, pedestrians and cyclists.
Following a safety review that took place in early 2025, experts recommended that a section of the road, from Broadway to the Cheadle Royal junction, close to both Kingsway School campuses, be lowered from 50mph to 40mph in both directions.
The speed limit will be changed from mid-August and will complement a new sustainable travel route being built as part of the £33m A34 corridor improvements currently being delivered.
These works include a designated walking and cycling route built along the stretch of the A34 where the new speed limit is being brought in.
