Ian Evatt welcomed a ‘big three points’ as Bolton found a way past Morecambe to extend their unbeaten start to the season.

The Shrimps have been something of a bogey side for the Whites in their League meetings with Evatt’s men needing last-gasp goals last season to twice earn a share of the spoils.

But Conor Bradley’s second goal in three games just before half-time was enough to give Wanderers a satisfying 1-0 win and lift them up to fourth place in the fledgling table.

“I think it was exactly what I predicted it would be like,” said Evatt.

“It was going to be tight. I thought we completely dictated and dominated really.”

Luke Bolton inspired Salford to the top of the Sky Bet League Two table with a goal and an assist, but Ryan Leak headed the winner in an eventful night at Rodney Parade as Salford secured all three points with a 3-2 win at Newport

Rochdale’s awful start to the season continued last night with a fourth defeat on the trot with a 1-0 defeat on the road away at Stevenage.

Carl Piergianni’s first half header proved to be the only goal of the game

Stockport made their first visit to old League rivals Doncaster in nearly 18 years but left empty-handed after playing for much of the game with 10 men and ultimately being edged out by the odd goal in three.

Macauley Southam-Hales was sent off only 20 minutes into the evening but a goal five minutes into added time at the end of the game saw the Hatters defeated

In the National League,Ben Tollitt’s second strike in as many games wasn’t enough to get Oldham back on terms after an early two-goal salvo from the visitors at Boundary Park.

Early first-half efforts from Rhys Browne and Tarryn Allarakhia put Wealdstone 2-0 up inside 20 minutes and they never relinquished the advantage to inflict Latics’ first defeat of the season.
