From live music to comedy, and celebrity psychics to wrestling, Middleton Arena’s calendar is packed with events for the winter season.

For the first time since 2019, it is hoped that a full programme of events will take place in Middleton, following disruption to their events programme due to the pandemic.

Each year, community culture trust, Your Trust works to offer an exciting events programme throughout the Rochdale Borough, which includes supporting independent organisers to host events in the town.

The plan to kick off 2022 includes some big-name acts, iconic music and spectacular stage shows.

Jonathan Higgins, Head of Events and Programming at Your Trust said, “We’re really excited to be able to announce the epic line-up of events kicking off 2022 in Middleton. We’re confident they’ll be instrumental in helping ward off any winter blues.

It’s been a tough couple of years for everyone, and we’re hoping to brighten the spirits of our local community by providing a fun and varied programme of events with something for everyone to enjoy safely.”

Headlining the season with their rescheduled shows are Phoenix Nights star Dave Spikey, who performs his touring stand-up show A Funny Thing Happened… (I Shot Derek Rigby) on Wednesday 2 February; and psychic to the stars Sally Morgan, whose Ten Years and Counting tour celebrates more than a decade at the top of her game on Thursday 24 March.

The team behind Middleton’s sell-out panto Treasure Island are back with Circus Spectacular, with international circus and magic acts on Sunday 6 February. You can cheer the goodies and boo the baddies at American Wrestling Spectacular on Saturday 12 February, featuring a sensational over-the-top-rope red hot rumble and an appearance by champ Tiny Iron.

The Wizard of Oz adds some musical magic to half-term week on Friday 18 – Sunday 20 February, starring ‘Allo ‘Allo’s Vicki Michelle as Glinda the Good and Yiftach Mizrahi from Netflix’s Greenhouse Academy as the Scarecrow. The amazing Exciting Science rounds off half-term on Saturday 26 February with some educational fun, featuring live science experiments.

For classic rock fans, The Who Story on Saturday 5 February sees leading UK tribute act The Goldhawks play through the impressive back catalogue of the music legends.

To celebrate more than 30 years of the UK’s number one boy band, the Take That Experience is coming to Middleton performing all their best-loved classics. And from pop legends to Motown icons – Just My Imagination on Friday 25 March follows in the footsteps of top musical Jersey Boys to celebrate hit-makers The Temptations.

Finally, The Opera Boys are in town on Friday 4 February with A Night at the Musicals, performing much-loved tunes from the likes of Les Miserables, West Side Story and The Greatest Showman. For something a little more outrageous, Million Dollar Men on Friday 11 February brings to life all the most memorable scenes from hit film Magic Mike, with a cast including their very own Channing Tatum look-a-like.

Middleton Arena is a See It Safely accredited venue, working with the Society of London Theatres to meet Covid-19 safety requirements and following the latest government guidance to ensure visitors to the venue are as protected as possible.
