An online book of remembrance and special interfaith memorial service will be held at Manchester Cathedral to remember all those we’ve lost to Coronavirus.

The Greater Manchester Combined Authority and Manchester Cathedral have been working together to create an online memorial book to remember all those from Greater Manchester or with a connection with the city-region who have sadly died of coronavirus.

There has been so much loss and pain in our communities and thousands of grieving families that it’s right that we all come together to support them in whatever way we can including making sure their loved-ones haven’t been forgotten.

As well as the website, there will be an online inter-faith service at Manchester Cathedral, from 11-12 noon on Thursday 16th July. Anyone can watch it live through the Cathedral’s Facebook page.

The live stream launch of the GM Remembers service will join Andy Burnham (Mayor of Greater Manchester), The Rt. Rev’d Dr David Walker (Bishop of Manchester), and The Very Rev’d Rogers Govender MBE (Dean of Manchester) and ecumenical and interfaith guests representing people of all faiths from across our region will also be present (maintaining physical distancing).

GM Remembers will be a free-to-use online book of remembrance, for people and communities of all faiths and of none, where you will be able to add a memorial for someone you loved or cared for who has died during the COVID-19 pandemic and was born, lived or linked to Greater Manchester.
