Manchester was covered in colour today as thousands of local runners, of all ages and abilities, turned up to the world famous Color Run, for its fifth year.

Kicking off the second event of its 2017 summer tour across the UK, The Color Run took place at the Etihad Campus, Manchester and brought over 8,500 Color Runners from across the city together to run, walk, skip and dance their way around the 5k course.

Participants were covered head-to-toe in kaleidoscopic coloured powder as they ran through the route before eventually crossing the finish line and joining thousands of fellow attendees at the Finish Festival, where the party continued. With a live set from DJ’s, MC’s getting the party started and the hotly anticipated mass ‘Color Throws’, a multicolour free-for-all where all runners come together to throw coloured powder over each other – it really was a day to remember.

The Color Run is an untimed 5k fun run, aiming to combine fitness and fun, with the ultimate goal being that participants cross the line with a huge smile on their face.

Marc Webster, Senior Vice President, Event Operations (Global) & IMG Mass Participation (EMEA) said: “Manchester was a fantastic location for the second leg of this year’s tour, and it was great to see thousands of people turn up to join the fun and experience what The Color Run has to offer.

With the 2017 event series now in full swing, we look forward to welcoming participants in Brighton who wish to spend their weekends in the brightest, most colourful way.”

The Color Run will brighten up the lives of people of all shapes, sizes, ages and genders across the UK this summer, with more than 30,000 people set to run the happiest 5k in total. Tickets are still on sale to the public for the Brighton (23rd September) event. For information on how to sign up, please visit www.thecolorrun.co.uk.
