Former Manchester Grammar School boy Sir Jim Radcliffe has confirmed that he is in the running to buy Manchester United

Radcliffe, the son of a joiner from Failsworth is one of Britain’s richest men said to be worth £25 billionand has been a lifelong United fan
The Glazer family said in November last year that they were considering selling the club
Radcliffe unsuccessfully bid for Chelsea last year but owns cycling team Ineos Grenadiers, Ligue 1 side Nice, who he took over in 2019, and FC Lausanne-Sport, a Swiss Super League club.
The news came just a day after the UK’s charity regulator announced it was reviewing The Jim Ratcliffe Foundation over a £15m donation he made “to build a luxury clubhouse at a ski resort used by the billionaire”, said The Times.
The paper added that the foundation “has received £7.4m in Gift Aid from the British tax authorities” since it was set up to fund a new ski clubhouse in Courchevel in the French Alps, and to support other charitable endeavours.
