Two people are seriously injured in hospital following a collision in Altrincham this morning

A white Mini One and a red Ford Mustang collided into each other on the A56 Dunham Road as they drove in opposite directions around 8.30.

The driver of the Ford Mustang, a 50-year-old man, was taken to hospital with broken bones.

The driver of the Mini One, a 63-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with multiple injuries including broken bones and a punctured lung.

Both remain in hospital awaiting surgery. No arrests have been made.

Police Constable Peter Hamnett-Steen, of GMP’s Road Policing Unit, said: “This was a particularly nasty collision which has left two people with multiple serious injuries which are potentially life changing.

“Our thoughts remain with them both as they await surgery and receive treatment in hospital.

“The road was closed for more than six hours and I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed it or have any dashcam footage to please come forward with information.”

“This collision occurred at a busy time of day close to Bowdon Roundabout. If you saw anything that could assist our investigation, please contact police.”
