A 25 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a pedestrian was killed on the M62 in the early hours of this morning
Enquiries are ongoing at this stage.
The M62 between Eccles and Birchwood will be closed in both directions and is expected to remain closed through the morning while officers conduct their investigations.
Alternative diversions are being put in place,and police say please avoid the area.
