The former nurse Lucy Letby will apply today for permission to appeal against her convictions.
The neonatal nurse was convicted of murdering seven babies and attempting to murder six more while she was working as a band 5 nurse on the neonatal unit of the Countess of Chester Hospital, and received a whole-life sentence for each of the fourteen counts she was convicted of.
The appeal hearing, before Lord Justice Holroyde and Mrs Justice Lambert, is listed for 22nd, 23rd and 25th April 2024.
Letby is due to be re-tried on one charge of attempted murder, which the jury at her trial was unable to decide on and therefore to avoid prejudice, the media will not be allowed to report the full detail of the appeal hearing at this stage
However Dame Victoria Sharp presiding over the appeal said it could be reported that Letby is attempting to challenge her convictions on four grounds, which involve arguments the judge at her trial wrongly refused legal applications made during her trial.
