Forget the predictable playlists and over-priced candlelit clichés – this Valentine’s Night, The Garden Bar in Chorlton is offering something a little different.
Resident DJ Martin Holland will host a special themed evening, ‘One Love’, soundtracking the night with a smooth blend of lovers rock, ska, reggae, dancehall plus a sprinkling of soul & rare groove thrown in the mix.
Expect timeless tracks from the likes of Barrington Levy, Janet Kay and Foxy Brown, creating a warm, laid-back atmosphere perfect for anyone looking to celebrate Valentine’s with great music and good company.
One Love forms part of Martin’s new monthly DJ residency at The Garden Bar, which sees him take over Saturday nights with his much-loved ‘Soul Town’ and ‘South Side’ sessions, alongside special themed events throughout the year. South Side nights bring a mix of indie, house, Manchester music, punk, pop, hip hop, disco – basically something for everybody! While Soul Town leans into soul, disco, northern soul and Motown grooves from across the decades – all reflecting Martin’s wide style and musical knowledge.
Martin Holland said: “I grew up in Chorlton and have run club nights here myself, so it has been a great opportunity for me to immerse myself in music once again here at The Garden Bar with my new nights, Soul Town and South Side. I wanted to create something a bit different for Valentine’s night so I’m bringing my collection of lovers rock, ska, reggae, dub and rocksteady. It’s the perfect kind of night where people can just drop by, have a drink, have a dance and enjoy the atmosphere – and it’s free!”
Jess Anderson, Manager of The Garden Bar, added: “We’re very lucky to have Martin as our resident DJ. His monthly nights are adding another layer to our community-focused events programme and building on the buzz from previous guest DJ nights.
