A rare opportunity to not only watch artisans at work but to actually experience the alchemy of glass-blowing first hand in one of the last working crystal factories in England.

Throughout the Easter Holidays Cumbria Crystals experiences programme will be delivered daily Saturday – Wednesday; each Morning experiences coordinator Clare will deliver our paperweight workshop and each afternoon our bauble workshop.

The bauble experience is suitable for 8+ years and the minimum age for paperweights is 13+ years.

Experiences may be booked online in advance using the links below or, if you are feeling lucky may be available on a ‘drop-in’ basis’ on the the day of your visit.

Cumbria Crystal is located about 100 meters off the A590 to the east of Ulverston. Follow the brown and white signs labelled ‘The Lakes Glass Centre’ which will direct you to the factory.

The historic market town of Ulverston is a wonderful visit for a day away from the cramped streets of the Central lake District towns and Villages.

Ulverston’s bustling market place features many specialist retailers, restaurants, cafes and bars. Most commonly known for the birth place of Stan Laurel, half of the famous comedy duo Laurel & Hardy – Ulverston is home to the world’s only Laurel & Hardy museum.

There are many walks from Ulverston to enjoy (the cumbrian way originates here). Take a leisurely stroll down the Ulverston Canal (claimed to be the straightest and widest canal in England) or a brisk walk up the hoad monument.

The Hoad may appear to look like a lighthouse but has never been lit, commended as a tribute to sir John Barrow, a founding member of the royal geographical society this grade || listed building is one of the most prominent landmarks in Cumbria due to its elevated position.
