The man who ran the feared ‘Gooch Gang’ in Manchester have died in prison
Lee Amos was jailed in 2009 for murdering rival in drive-by shooting
The forty eight year old died at HMP Oakwood in Staffordshire while serving a life sentence with a minimum 32 years behind bars
The gang based in Moss Side were formed in the late 1980s and running battles with the rival Doddingtons gang saw 27 people die in a five year period, and 250 wounded in gangland shootings.
Amos along with Colin Joyce headed the gang and the two were jailed after a six month trial in 2009 found guilty of two deadly drive-by shootings, one at a funeral wake, which killed Ucal Chin, 24 and 23-year old Tyrone Gilbert and left another man badly injured.
