The Conservatives have suspended the Lancashire MP Mark Menzies over allegations, reported in the Times newspaper, that he misused campaign funds.

The allegations which are strenuously denied by the Fylde MP state that he used campaign funds to pay people off after being locked in a flat by a man he met online.

He was allegedly blackmailed by gangsters in a honeytrap scam for £6,500 and he spent £14,000 on personal private medical treatment and that he allegedly demanded campaign cash from a volunteer at 3.15am to pay ‘bad people’ after going to a flat with a man he met on an online dating site.

Menzies went to a second flat & said the money was a “matter of life and death”

The paper claims that the Tory Party knew of these claims for three months but failed to take any action

The Tories are already facing a by-election in neighboring Blackpool next month after the Tory MP there, Scott Benton, was caught in a lobbying sting

The Government’s official majority now stands at 43.
