Buckingham Palace has announced in the last few minutes that the King has been diagnosed with cancer
The Palace has said that the King will step back from duties as Monarch and Head of State while he undergoes treatment.
They have confirmed that it is not prostate cancer but it was found during his prostate operation)
He will postpone public-facing duties but will still carry out official paperwork
The statement added that
The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible.
His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer.”
