There are only sixty eight shopping days until Xmas and Manchester is already getting ready.

The council have announced that Manchester comedian Jason Manford will be turning on the Christmas lights this year in Albert Square on the 7th November.

The ceremony and switch-on party will open six weeks of celebrations and attractions that have made sure Manchester is well known as the Christmas capital of the UK.

Manford will be joined by Britain’s Got Talent stars Collabro who will be performing live along with Stars of the sensational hit production of Shrek the Musical and Warwick Davis, ahead of his fantastical appearance in the Opera House’s production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs starting on 5 December.

Manchester’s Christmas Lights switch-on will take place on Friday 7 November from 7.30pm.
