A man has been jailed for seven years after GMP officers uncovered a kilogram of cocaine during a stop – before an investigation revealed links to wholesale drugs supply.

Alan Nisbet aged 36 of Towyn Avenue, Salford, received the sentence at Manchester Crown Court yesterday

Back in December last year officers were proactively patrolling as part of Operation Naseby, a dedicated policing operation aimed at disrupting organised crime in the city.

Officers pulled over Nisbet after noticing him driving in an erratic manner, with a subsequent search of his car resulting in the discovery of approximately a kilogram of cocaine.

A mobile phone recovered from the car revealed comprehensive information about the supply of drugs, with investigators concluding that Nisbet had been involved as a courier in the wholesale of supply of Class A and Class B drugs in the region.

The street value of the total drugs transported in the four weeks before Nisbet’s arrest were valued at more than seven million pounds.

This included 40kg of cocaine and 70kg of MDMA, in addition to quantities of ketamine and amphetamine.
