Two men have been jailed for the murder 24-year-old Neri Morse who fatally stabbed on Carruthers Street in Ancoats back in April

Rushaun Brown aged 24 of Higher Ardwick, Manchester was today sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum of 24 years, after being found guilty of murder and pleading guilty to possession of an offensive weapon.

Meshai Newby, also 24  of Brydon Avenue, Manchester, was sentenced to 14 years imprisonment, after being found guilty of manslaughter, assault, and possession of an offensive weapon.

Neri was stabbed following a disturbance in a local convenience store.A second man in his 20s sustained upper and lower leg injuries.

Detective Inspector Rachel Smith, of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “Though today’s result will not bring Neri back, I hope it brings his loved ones a sense of closure. Our thoughts remain with them, as they have done throughout our investigation and the subsequent trial.”
