IWG, the world leader in hybrid work solutions with brands including Spaces and Regus, is expanding its footprint in Manchester, with a new Signature workspace at Bow Chambers in the city centre.

The site, providing about 8,000 square feet of high-quality flexible workspace, will allow customers to work flexibly from a historical building in the centre of Manchester. The flagship location will open in Bow Chambers, near to St Peter’s Square, and will provide workers with IWG’s full suite of facilities, including private offices, co-working and collaboration spaces, meeting rooms, events and a host of tech services including IT support. The new site will be opened in partnership with Patrick Properties.

Bow Chambers is located on Cross Street, accessed from Tib Lane within the Albert Square conservation area, and has recently seen the opening of the well renowned Bold St café on the retail ground floor. Bow Chambers is a late 19th Century period, Grade II listed building arranged over basement, ground and four upper floors of office accommodation. The building benefits from an impressive remodelled entrance with premium quality finishes throughout.

Customers will also have access to IWG’s entire global network, including over 300 locations in the UK and 3,500 globally allowing them to work from the most convenient place for them. Not only does hybrid working enhance productivity but it offers companies a significantly lower cost base with an average saving of £8,000 per employee. Situated just off Deansgate, this site is part of a new drive by IWG to meet the sharply rising demand for top class flexible working space in the heart of Manchester and follows other recent Northwest openings in Altrincham, Chester and Warrington.

Manchester is considered to be the UK’s most entrepreneurial city as it saw a 32% increase in the number of businesses registered in 2021, equating to one company registered per every 31 people living in the city. The new site is located in a unique position at the heart of Manchester’s prime financial and professional district and is surrounded by many high quality retail and leisure outlets including the Marks and Spencer flagship store, Selfridges, House of Fraser and Harvey Nichols. The building is within close proximity of the Metrolink stations at both St Peter’s Square and Mosley Street as well as the railway stations of Victoria and Piccadilly.

IWG and Patrick Properties previously partnered to open Regus Altrincham in May of 2022. The Regus location provides space for established firms and start-ups, while the flexible floor plan allows companies to design their own bespoke office spaces. The demand for the site led to exceptionally strong pre-sales, with more than 80% of space sold before the centre opened.

Mark Dixon, CEO & Founder of IWG, commented: “Manchester has a thriving and vibrant business community and is an important area for expansion. There is a sharply growing demand for high quality workspaces as hybrid working becomes the new normal.

“Our new opening in Manchester comes at a time when more and more companies are discovering that flexible working boosts employee happiness and satisfaction, while helping the environment. Our workplace model is also proven to increase productivity and allows for a business to scale up or down at significantly reduced costs.”

Spokesperson Jordan Kennedy, Director of Patrick Properties, added: “We are delighted to be further expanding on our great relationship with IWG. Our first location together in Altrincham proved to be a great success, and we look forward to bringing hybrid working to even more people in Greater Manchester.”
