Iran has launched a missile attack on Israel with air raid sirens sounding across the country

Reports say that over 180 ballistic missiles and cruise missiles were launched towards Israel

The move comes amid Israeli forces’ ground incursion into Lebanon, where they are conducting raids against the Iran-backed Hezbollah militant group.

IDF spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said in a statement that there are currently no reports of injuries after Iran launched missiles into Israel.

‘Based on what we know at this point, this attack seems to have been defeated and ineffective” the US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said at a White House news conference.

Israel has said there will be consequences for the barrage and Iran has already vowed to respond to any retaliation

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer spoke to Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday afternoon and “condemned Iran’s attack on Israel”, a Downing Street spokesperson said

Hamas praised the Iranian missile strikes avenging deaths of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, and Brigadier General Abbas Nilforoushan

Meanwhile at least six people were killed and nine wounded in a suspected shooting and stabbing terror attack in Tel Aviv, Israeli police said

The Israeli military released a statement:

“A short while ago, missiles were launched from Iran towards the State of Israel.

“You are instructed to remain alert and precisely follow the Home Front Command’s instructions

“In the last few minutes, the Home Front Command has distributed life-saving instructions in various areas across the country. The public is asked to adhere to the Home Front Command’s guidelines. Upon hearing a siren, you must enter a protected space and remain there until further notice.

“The IDF is doing and will do everything necessary to protect the civilians of the State of Israel.”
