The man had been stabbed inside a property on Liverpool Road and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Two men, both aged 34, were arrested on suspicion of murder. One man has been released on bail.

The second man has been released with no further action. Enquiries are ongoing.

“Although two arrests have been made I would like to stress that our investigation is very much ongoing and we would appeal to anyone who has any information that could assist our enquiries to come forward and assist police.

“We are still treating this incident as isolated with no wider risk to the community but I would stress that we are working at pace to ensure the responsible parties are identified and face the appropriate justice. If you are holding information that could be beneficial to our investigation please contact us as a matter of urgency.”
