Groundwork Greater Manchester and local residents have transformed the rear alleyway of Syddall Street into a vibrant, community‑led Eco Street

Over the past few weeks, Groundwork engaged with residents through surveys and pop‑up sessions, supported by Hyde Bangladeshi Welfare, to ensure every voice was heard. Residents designed number tiles, grew seedlings on windowsills and helped spark ideas that truly brought the vision to life.

Planters, planting sessions and mural making all played a part in brightening the space, along with residents organising their own seedling swaps over the garden wall. A wonderful example of real community spirit!

Co‑funded by Pride in Place, the completed project has created a greener, healthier shared space for everyone, shaped entirely by the community.

Last Thursday, residents came together to celebrate all the teamwork, creativity and dedication that made the Syddall Street Eco Street possible.
