A question about which network is the most popular today is not complex or controversial because it is Facebook with more than 2.6 billion monthly active users!

It is an excellent hub not only for boosting your business but also a place to learn new things, enjoy inspiring videos and pictures and relax with amusing animal videos. There’s an inexhaustible supply of content for every taste.

Facebook never ceases to amaze with new updates to various features, and video content is no exception. For example, recent updates include short video monetization. Now you may add ads to a 1-minute video at the beginning, end, or middle of the video, while before only videos longer than 3 minutes were monetized.

The video posting possibilities have improved in general. For example, the update connected with creating a new Videos tab has been designed for users to find lovely content more conveniently. While the ability to publish serial videos and episodes makes it possible to create more customer-oriented content. Moreover, you will not miss out on releasing a new video, as it is also possible to turn on the notification. Bulk uploader/actions allow users to save their time and post several videos and activate such functions as rights protection, ads, and auto-captions in one click.

The bottom line is that YouTube is concerned that it has a worthy opponent. Although the two social networks have different characteristics and are difficult to compare, it is increasingly being reported in the news that FB, with its frequent video updates, has become a competitor to YouTube.

But the thing is that we can’t download media content from FB to our favorite device. For example, not to lose it, view it offline without going to FB, or share on other networks (but with video author indication, of course).

I’m going to show you how you may upload media content with Facebook download tools or without them. Is there even the best video downloader?

Three basic FB video downloading ways

Web-based tools

It is hard to identify the best video downloader as they are similar but differ mainly in the devices on which a video can be downloaded. For example, FBDown (pc, Android); Downvids (iPhone/Android/pc); Savefrom (iPhone/Android.pc); Keepvid, Keepoffline, Getfvid (all devices), etc.

This online saving method’s peculiarity is that you do not need to install web-based services or even register to start downloading, which is why they are called online. That is, you just need to upload a page of one of the downloaders, and you may freely launch the downloading process. Just make sure you haven’t a poor internet connection.

How to operate

All such online downloaders have the following save way:

  • you should copy a FB video address;
  • then load a saver via a browser on a device and insert the address into an entry box;
  • hit a save or download button.

Some downloaders offer you to pick out a video quality and the location for video saving. You may usually find a stored video in a default “Downloads” folder or phone gallery.

NB: I have to warn you that there are also unsafe tools among online downloaders that contain malicious links. So it’s best not to upload a video using an unfamiliar tool.

Mobile apps

There isn’t much choice among apps. Facebook doesn’t welcome such apps on the market as the traffic might drop because people watch videos outside of the platform. But while you can still find safe video download apps on Android, it’s even more complicated with iPhones.

For example, there is a Fastvid tool for Android or MyMedia and Friendly for iPhone. Fastvid operates in roughly the same way as an online saver, while MyMedia and Friendly are not direct downloaders. The first one uses other services to upload content in a gallery. The second one was designed as a single app for all your social media where you need to register, log in to your FB acc and then pick out a video to store it in a gallery, hitting “down arrow”.

Anyway, all such apps for mobiles require installation and, in some cases, logging.

Video address modification

There is a tricky and old way to upload FB videos to a computer without using the best video downloader (if you already have such) by modifying some letters in a video address:

  • Pick out a FB video, play it and call up the context menu by right-clicking on it;
  • Hit “Show video URL” in the menu and copy the URL;
  • Load a new window in a browser and insert the URL;
  • Change the “www” into “mbasic” in the URL and hit Enter;
  • Call up a pop-up menu on an opened page and press “Save video as”;
  • Decide on a video name/location and hit “Save”.

Whether or not you’ve picked out your best video downloader is irrelevant. In any case, you should respect the authors’ rights and not use their videos for commercial purposes or represent them as your authorship.
