To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Acid House in the UK, three suburban Manchester club nights have joined forces for a festive party in Chorlton on Saturday 29 December.

Tom O’Toole (Bop Local), Tracey Donnelly (Happy) and Martin Holland (Club Zero/Soul Town) – who are all friends and have been running their respective club nights in Chorlton, Bowden and Didsbury – have joined forces for this one-off club night, Fusion. They will be transforming Chorlton Irish Club into a festive space, the likes of which you’ve never seen before.

Fusion will feature a selection of Bop Local/Happy/Club Zero DJs for the night: Martin Holland, Chris Donnelly and Disco Ball Dave! Special guest DJ for the night will be none other than The Hacienda’s Peter Hook. When he’s not touring the world with his band Peter Hook & The Light, or Hacienda Classical, Hooky loves the opportunity to play some of his favourite house tunes, so we’re buzzing that he’ll be bringing his playlist to Chorlton for the night.

Although House music started in Chicago in the 1980s its impact soon hit the clubs of Manchester – especially The Hacienda’s legendary Nude night, where the early house imports were played, alongside homegrown artists like 808 State, T Coy and A Guy Called Gerald right up to The Chemical Brothers.

Expect to hear some of the classic House tunes at Fusion, along with the tracks from the music genres that led to the emergence of House, such as Disco, Northern Soul, Electronica, Balearic, Electro and Funk, plus modern remixes of classic tracks and a few curve balls in the mix.

In the Lounge Bar at Chorlton Irish Club, cartoonist Tony Husband will be bringing his famous Cartoon Confessional Box, where guests ‘confess their sins’ and Tony illustrates them in a cartoon.

All donations will be going to a charity close to Tony’s heart, Dementia UK Carlie Donnelly will also be in the Lounge Bar with her box of glitter make-up to glam people up for the evening!

Fusion is especially aimed at clubbers who want a festive party atmosphere but want to avoid the city centre crowds.

There will be drinks offers (beer, wine etc) on the night, as well as a Fizz Bar.

Doors/bars 8.30pm – 2am.

Tickets are £10 online via Skiddle:  skiddle.com/e/13380526
Tickets are also available at Celebration in Chorlton, The Bowling Green and also Chorlton Irish Club. Tickets will be £12 on the door on the night.
