Police have recovered two guns as they continue to investigate yesterday’s have been seized armed robbery in Moss Side.
The robbery at a café on Princess Street saw three men- armed with a suspected shotgun, a machete and a baseball bat- entered the premises, threatened members of the public and demanded that they hand over personal belongings and a set of car keys.
The offenders then fled the scene in a white Range Rover belonging to one of the victims.
Three men were taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries.
Shortly after the robbery officers located the stolen Range Rover on Bowland Drive in Fallowfield and in a bush nearby two guns were found and confiscated by police as part of the investigation.
Four men aged 18, 19, 23 and 58 and two teenagers aged 17 have been arrested on suspicion of robbery. They remain in custody this evening.
Detective Inspector Andy Buckthorpe from GMP’s City of Manchester Team said: “This has been a swift investigation and we continue to question four men and two teenagers in connection with this terrifying robbery which happened in broad daylight.
“Thankfully no one was seriously injured, the situation could have been a lot worse.
“We have recovered two guns from a scene close by to where one of the cars was recovered. While we have not yet confirmed that these guns are connected to this robbery, we have still taken two extremely dangerous weapons off of the streets of Manchester, which we are very happy about.
“Our enquiries into the robbery are ongoing and we are continuing our appeal to hear from anyone who has any information that could help our investigation.”
