European on-demand delivery leader, Gorillas, has announced the first regional launch of their pioneering partnership with the UK’s largest retailer.
Gorillas will now be able to deliver Tesco goods in minutes to more consumers in Manchester – offering a perfect combination of great quality produce and convenience.
Customers in the Manchester area will be able to order a large range of Tesco products to their door within minutes via the Gorillas app. This will be the second Gorillas location to launch in Manchester, with an existing warehouse delivering to the Piccadilly and New Islington area.
The co-located partnership sees Tesco’s Stretford Extra store act as a retail space that incorporates Gorillas’ micro-fulfillment centre operations model, enabling delivery of groceries within minutes to their combined customer base.
This expansion of the partnership follows a successful pilot scheme at two locations in London. Our Gorillas rider teams have already clocked up nearly 50,000 emissions-free miles from these locations in Thornton Heath and Lewisham to customer door-steps via Gorillas’ e-bikes. This partnership is the first between an instant on-demand delivery company and a grocery retailer that includes co-located physical warehouses within Tesco’s existing retail stores.
The mixture of Tesco’s expansive store network with Gorillas rapid-delivery model is a win for customers of both businesses. The partnership expands Gorillas’ growing regional customer base to offer Tesco products in super-fast time.
The Berlin-based company – which is Europe’s biggest super-fast delivery service – brings to the partnership an unparalleled pace in rolling out across new locations, having launched over 200 rapid delivery hubs in nine countries in less than 18 months. Gorillas’ rapid delivery model has enabled the business to fulfil over 10 million orders in 2021 alone, multiplying the number of orders by 17 times.
