A Greater Manchester police Constable who was arrested for being drunk and disorderly in Blackburn has been sacked by the force

PC Kenyon pleading guilty to, and being convicted of, being drunk and disorderly in a public place at Blackburn Magistrates Court and received a conditional discharge for 12 months and was ordered to pay £200 court costs and £26 victim surcharge.

In a ruling now published of a disciplinary hearing which took place on the 17th July by Greater Manchester Police’s Misconduct hearing Assistant Chief Constable John Webster said that

“PC Kenyon’s behaviour resulted in her arrest, an arrest which, in my view, may have been avoided if she had listened and acted on the sound advice being provided. This arrest subsequently resulted in her conviction.” adding that

“PC Kenyon actions, and subsequent criminal conviction, inevitably bring the profession into disrepute and undoubtedly damages the trust that the public have a right to expect of their police.”

“Police officers are expected to behave in a manner that does not discredit the police service or undermine public confidence in it whether on or off duty.
Police officers are expected to act with self-control and tolerance. They are expected to be courteous and respectful, both on and off duty. Intoxication does not adjust that level of expectation.”

PC Kenyon was dismissed ‘with immediate effect’ and her name will be added to the College of Policing’s ‘Barred List’, preventing her from working in policing again.
